Get the health benefits from this broccoli and prawns recipe in 10 minutes.
We should really eat more broccoli. Even if it’s not yet proven to be the superfood that it’s hyped to be, the health benefits of broccoli can not be ignored. Broccoli is full of vitamins, fibre and calcium, plus compounds that deny the growth of cancer cells. See the article from NHS UK about broccoli here.
To get the most of it, without eating it raw, boil it for just 4 minutes (avoid overcooking), or even better steam it for about 6 minutes.
And, the other main ingredient, the prawns, are low in fat, and a great source of high quality protein. Plus they taste great together. Enough said.
- 200g fresh king prawns
- 400g broccoli
- 1 red pepper
- 1 red chili (optional)
- 2 cloves of garlic (optional)
- 50ml oil
- 100ml sweet chili sauce
The garlic is optional here if you don’t like the taste leave it out. The same with the chili, should the sweet chili sauce have enough heat for you, leave the fresh chili out.
Heat up the wok or a large frying pan really well. Add the sliced garlic, chili and the diced (quite large pieces) red pepper. Stir fry for 30 seconds and add the prawns. Cook stirring for 2 minutes or until the prawns are cooked through.
Pour in the sweet chili sauce, mix well, that’s all to it. Serve over boiled or steamed broccoli.
